Project Summary:

Installation of Integrated Energy Management (IEMS) system to convert digester biogas to useable energy at the plant.

Project Description:

This community located near Grand Rapids, Michigan has just begun construction on a new biosolids to energy process.  This process will digest municipal biosolids in an egg shaped digester.  HESCO Sustainable Energy’s Energy Management System (EMS) will collect and scrub the biogas produced in the digester and feed the gas to a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) System.  The electricity generated will be utilized within the plant to run the aeration system which will reduce the amount of electricity that will have to be purchased from the local utility.  The heat generated from the process will also be distributed to supply building heat and the heat necessary to sustain the digestion system.

The CHP system will be a dual fuel system capable of running on natural gas.  If the EMS determines that it is economically advantageous to increase the generator output by switching to natural gas the system will automatically do so.
